A TRIP TO KELSO

Car packed, esky full and we were off to Kelso to collect seaweed.
Fanny and me, not a great deal on the beach but enough to fill our bags. Next stop the Batman Bridge for lunch.

NEW YEARS EVE

Volunteered to do clean up at Royal Park 5.15 to 12.35. The time went so fast and the work was constant but not hard. Wasn't unduly impressed with the fireworks but the entertainment was good.

CHRISTMAS IS DONE AND DUSTED.

What a lovely week, Jodie came Monday leaving Boxing Day, Peter's dad, Len came Christmas Eve and all the family joined in for afternoon tea. Off to the Uniting Church for their annual carols and play and a drive around to see the wonderful displays of Christmas lights. Christmas morning dawned very hot so thankfully, the pool was up and greatly enjoyed. A cold lunch was had after a multitude of presents were opened. Then to top it off, a clutch of 11 chickens were born.

Had a wonderful time at the Deloraine Show on the weekend, no Showman's Guild, just small, better priced rides and activities. Lots to see, Charlie the Horseman, 80+ year old axemen, medieval fighters, Paringa Archery, horses, horse dressage and the Home Industries were better than Burnie Show which is far larger. Great fun for Ethan, Amber and me.

On Monday, I made the best ever carrot cake. Everyone loved it so had to see if I could do it again. Used Spelt flour today and the result was just as good.

An update on the vegetable garden which is doing amazingly.
New pea and bean seedlings, lettuce ready for eating and pumpkins galore.

Potatoes doing famously along with the silverbeet and raspberries. Peach trees loaded again.

CHICKENS, CHICKENS AND MORE CHICKENS!

The 30th October, great leaps in the vegetable garden with snow peas, broadbeans and silverbeet producing. Lettuce about ready to pick and heaps of various types of seedlings growing magnificently. Potatoes also doing really well along with the recently planted blueberry.

On the 24th October, Peter and I went for our 2nd trip in the van, this time to Liffey Falls staying at the Lower Liffey Reserve. We had a wonderful time walking to the falls, walking the Bob Brown track and a day trip to the Central Highlands including Pine Lake and The Great Lake. Unfortunately, the new toilet had a glitch and had to be closed so others camped left so we were the only ones there. So lovely by the Liffey River.

Cathy and I went for a walk to the river and came across this orchid.
On the 22nd October, a group of us from craft went for our outing at the Glengarry Maze. The weather was quite cool and overcast at the start but warmed up sufficiently to have our meal outside.
